Born in Washington, DC, Ellen Carter spent her early life in both Japan and Germany. She eventually settled in Baltimore, where she graduated from Antioch College and the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars. She continues to participate in the Baltimore-Washington writing community, which has supported and inspired her for many years. Her poems have appeared in The Agni Review, Dreamworks, The Falcon, Mass Transit, Poet Trees, The Washington Review, and other publications. She has worked as a learning specialist and writing teacher and lives with her family in Maryland.
