He is a retired Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon. He was born in Korea, in 1942. He graduated from the College of Medicine of Seoul National University. He immigrated to the US in 1972. He practiced in medicine and taught the medical students as an ENT specialist till 2006 at Lima Memorial Hospital and St. Ritas Medical Center in Lima Ohio for 29 years. His literary debut was through Simunhak (2010), a monthly poetry magazine in Korea. He is a member of the International PEN Club in Korea. He is currently the editor in chief of the Sigetop, the newsletter of his medical school alumni in the US, and he is vice president of KLSW.

His publications include: Hello Doctor Seo {2009), Gracious Maria (2011), Our House of Blooming Dandelion (2015), Callous Cloud (2021, bilingual), Thinking Woods (2024, bilingual). He is one of the co-authors of English publications, I am Homeland, Ebb and Flow and Songs in a Second Language. His awards include Most Honorable Alumni of Seoul National University, Medical School (2008), Hamchun Award in U.S., Yoon Dong-Joo Literary Special Award in U.S., Miju Poetry Literary Special Award, and 8th Pal Bong literary Award (2022)
