Y.S. Fing is the second son of D. Selby Fing, whose 3-part epic poem, called The Profane Comedy, was written in 1976. The first section of that poem, Perdition, was published last year by New Academia Publishing. Y.S. is a graduate of Boston University and Portland State University. He has written his own poetry, annotations to The Profane Comedy, and an unpublished book of short stories about his father's life, Event Horizons. He has worked with the Washington Independent Review of Books, including a column called Finglish, and the Washington Writers Conference. He has also molded The Profane Comedy into a 75-song opera, and is attempting to bring that to the public with his band The Microcosmic Examples. He teaches composition at the University of Maryland.
